CSI - A thousand Days on Earth

This episode turned out to be a good one, very sad but really good. In the beginning it reminded me of season 7's Burn Out with Alan Tudyk, which turned out to be an amazingly sad episode.
I am glad though, that they didn't take the child molestation route with this one and it was more sad for revealing the true nature of her death.

A few things I have noticed though.. Catherine is really cranky about cases involving children and occasionally women. Hodges remarked on it as well to Grissom about ticking off Catherine. I loved Grissom's response though, she was heading that way when she came in.

Another thing, Warrick do up a button on your shirt! It looks so sloppy and it really bugs me! (even though I heart Warrick). I am glad we got to see more of Nick and Warrick and that things are back to normal.

Jay Paulson, who played Dean James/Leo Finley really creeped me out at the end. I will admit, I jumped and kind of screamed when Catherine turned around and he was in her face! I think that he will be back in the future to deal with his promise of blowing his brains out on her front lawn. I hope he does come back, he is a good actor. And his fiance was a hoot.

The case overall was sad, she died playing hide and seek and because her step father panicked and took the bus in stead of calling an ambulance. I am really glad it wasn't a case of neglect or child abuse. Just an accident. Although I found dying her hair to be rather odd. And the sad part was, when they showed the child with her natural hair color it didn't look right. Go figure.
The death of the mother at the end was sad and senseless as well, but also really quick and forced. Plus no one mentioned it later on.

Hodges was right when he was talking to Catherine and Grissom, it is always tragic when a child is dead but for some reason it is extra tragic when it was a beautiful child. It is weird how society works, how shallow we are. But I understood what he was saying and I think Grissom might have as well from the look he gave Hodges.

Overall I really enjoyed this episode and can say CSI is back!! Yay!

Hi Indy,

I found this episode to be very engrossing. Catherine has been annoying me a lot for the past few years, so I was glad when Leo Finley confronted her at the end--she should feel guilty for ruining his life. And he shouldn't have been put on the sex offender's list in the first place.

It's sad that we feel more for the death of pretty people than plain or homely ones, but that, sadly, is human nature. Remember all of the fuss over Jonbenet Ramsey? There were how many cases of murdered children being investigated around the country? And this one child got all of the media attention.

I felt terrible for the stepdad; he really did seem to love Inez. He can't be excused for how he reacted to her accident, but it's understandable. And I don't understand the reason for the mom being shot during the standoff. You're right--it did seem forced.

Thanks for the recap.

I wish Leo/Dean would have busted a clip full of bullets in her head.
Then I wish the CSI creators would hire someone else to take her place on the team.
A man can dream, can't he?

Yes Catherine has become soooo annoying the last few years.. very self righteous. And IMO she is the last one who should be!! Leo/Dean needs to knock her down a peg or two. And I agree he never should have signed that Megan's list. It ruined his life (although dancing naked while on E probably didn't help!!).

He is a good character and I hope they bring him back. Although you could see how scared Catherine was, in my eyes, so I can understand her pulling the gun. I probably would have done the same.
Is it just me or in some of the pictures of Inez.. did she look like the the Virgin Mary?
