Spotlight - Jared Padalecki: Fresh Blood

Serious Sam
What an incredible episode this was! The brotherly moments were very satisfying. When Sam told Dean to please act like his brother - "just because" - well, how much more heartwarming of a line is there? It was so refreshing for the boys not to be arguing and for Dean to drop his heavily fortified defense walls.

Sam is 100% Sam. I'm convinced of that. He was back to his old self, showing compassion to the victims of the vampire. And to Dixon himself, in a way.

But then he killed Gordon with barbed wire - what a sight! It was scary and yet thrilling. I know there are fans who wanted Gordon to live because he was such a "good" bad guy, but I'm glad to see him go. There are numerous other maniacs and demons only too happy to take Gordon's place.

Having said that, though, I was touched by the scene between Gordon and Kubrick. They seemed like they had formed a sort of friendship. Kubrick showed his humanity by attempting to kill Gordon, but Gordon killed him instead, intent on saving the world from Sam. As twisted as he was, Gordon firmly believed that he would be doing the world a favor by ridding it of Sam.

Jared - oh, Jared - the puppy dog eyes! They were all throughout this episode. Can anyone do puppy/sensitive eyes any better?

The end scene was one of the best and saddest so far this season for me - Dean teaching his little brother how to car for the Impala. The torch was passed.

Your thoughts?

My thoughts? Hmmmm... I am now all emotional and that hasn't really happened with the episodes this season. After reading and watching the con stuff posted seeing Jared as Sam was cool to me. Sam is so sweet and yet he can step up to the plate and take charge - I love that.

Damn Gabs...this was fast!

My scene was the one in the motel room when Dean tells Sam that he's going to go after Gordon. The catch in Sam's voice & his eyes filling with tears had me bawling & clapping at the same time. Yay to Dean for listening this time, instead of continuing with his smartass remarks. Yay for Sammy for calling Dean out on those remarks.

The whole "I've been following you around since I was like 4, trying to be like my big brother" (I can't remember the exact words). GUH!!!! Oh Sammy!!!!!

Also, that end scene. Sam realizes what Dean is trying to do & accepting it rather than arguing with him again. *sob*

Damn...Sammy had better get to work on breaking the deal...I really don't think my heart can take it if Dean does die. It'll break for Sammy & for us fans!!!! Yes, I am conveniently ignoring the strike right now.

Freakin' LOVED this episode, Gabs! OMG, I know, Jared and those puppy eyes, just can't get enough of them! SQUEEEE!!!! :-x OMG!!! Gordon became a vamp! Hooray for poetic justice, remember his sister? Yeah. LOL. Am a little sorry to see him go in the way that you said, but at the same time...GOOD RIDDANCE!!!

And yes, yes, a thousand times YES, Sammy is 100% Sammy, he always has been always will be! He was showing that usual compassion, he cringed and looked away when Dean had to cut Lucy's head off, and yeah, even took a little pity on Dixon there! And did you notice, when he had killed Gordon with the wire (yeah, YIKES, LOL) he just stared down at the blood on his hands, like he was repulsed by what he had just done. I could almost see the thought "I AM a monster" running through his head. NO, SAMMY! YOU'RE not a monster, Gordon is!!! Well...WAS. LOL!

And finally, the brother scenes, OMG, so awesome, so heartfelt, and YAY for Dean for finally letting those walls down for Sammy! Sammy's speech to him was perfect, and of course, perfectly done by Jared. And the ending scene, so wonderfully bittersweet!

LOVED IT!!! :^O

I had a bit of a bad moment when Lucy was talking about the guy from the bar & she said "Deacon or Dixon or something". I knew it wouldn't be OUR Deacon, but it still threw me.

The SamHair was in fine form tonight!!!!!! Wiiiinnnngs, hee hee!!!!!!

Just how much strength does it take to slice someone's head off with barbwire?! Just curious.

Random thought for the night: The boys have a cooler!!!!:-p

I actually said "Holy Bleep!!" as Sam was ending Gordon. Sometimes I can't believe they go there on this show, but they do and it can be so good. Usually good in the goriest of ways, but good.

Allo Gabs Great, super, incredible episode. I gotta see it again, cause I'm sure I've missed a lot, so much information.

I'm a Deangirl and one of the reason is because I love Jensen's acting. Now Jarod's performance when Sam called on Dean on being afraid, was great acting. Jarod nailed that scene, those almost tears in his eyes, got to me.

And that scene by the car at the end, so calm, brothers together talking having a beer. No fighting, don't get me wrong I liked the fightings in the previous episodes, but I didn't realize until that scene that I needed some real bonding between the boys. It just made the episode that much more perfect.

Can anyone do puppy/sensitive eyes any better?
How could I forget those eyes, you're right, no one does it better.

Ouf, that's a lot from little old me. I'll be back, gotta let it all sink in.

Does that end scene by the car make anyone else think of Dean and Sam as teenagers? Frenchlady it was a nice bonding moment to see, nothing fancy but heart wrenching.

MaskedChic--Does that end scene by the car make anyone else think of Dean and Sam as teenagers?

I can totally picture John teaching Dean Engines101 & Sammy sitting by, maybe reading a book! Picture Dean at like 11 & Sam at 7...OMG! Flashback!!!!!

This really was a fantastic episode. Picture this: me, with no voice, hoarsely screaming at the tv. That equals priceless humor. Too bad no one was around to witness it! It was like Munch's The Scream painting. Oh noes!!!\0/

Liked that, eh Kitty? That is one of my all-time favorite paintings. He has a Vampire one too. Not as odd as The Scream though.

Pssst....Sera wrote this one...NO WONDER it's full of the brotherly emo & angst!!! She totally loves to torture the boys (& the viewers!).

Gordon was my fave villain so far, in that love-to-hate way, so I agree, another round could be fun. LOL. But I don't see it happening.
