The Office and ER

I missed the Earl finale (the difficulties of being in the Central Time Zone), but The Office and ER finales gave me plenty to blog about:

The Office
--I knew there was going to be a proposal in this episode, but I was thinking that it would be too easy for it to be Jim and Pam. When Michael started flirting with Holly (the fantastic Amy Ryan)I feared he might jump the gun and propose to her, but thankfully Jim told him to slow down. So that left...Andy and Angela!? How funny was it that her response was a long pause and then "Okay,"? And then she gets caught having sex with Dwight in the office!! Oh, Angela, I am shocked.
--Long live Phyllis, planner of the best party the office has ever had! Angela, please relinquish your crown.
--Okay, I felt a little sad because Pam and Jim had their proposal moment ruined, especially after Jim spent all that money and Pam was so excited about it, but I was actually a little glad that they didn't get engaged yet. After all the stuff Toby has gone through pining for Pam, to have Jim use his going away party to propose to Pam may have been the nail in the HR guy's coffin. Now he can go to Costa Rica to pine in peace.
--Ryan is going to jail for fraud. And his arrest tape is on Youtube. Sometimes people get what they deserve. I loved Jim's very different phone messages for him, particularly the joy on his face when he mentioned Ryan having his "hands tied." I also hope Kelly enjoys taunting Ryan in prison. And I hope that he loses that "crime" of a beard (according to Oscar).
--Oh Michael! He finally met a woman (Holly from HR) who shared his interests, thought his jokes were funny and who made him act like a grown-up and even seem charming...only to give up on her to be a part of Jan's life with a baby that she didn't even want him to know about because she went to a sperm bank while she was still with him! Just when I get mad at him for being a jerk most of the time he reminds me that sometimes he cares too much.
--Dwight telling Holly that Kevin is "slow" and nothing Kevin did or said for the rest of the episode doing anything to convince her otherwise.
--Creed's monologue of panic as he tried to figure out what exactly he does in the office.
--Jim and Pam forwarding both Dwight's phones to Jim. I've missed their pranking.

ER
--After everything seemed to be going so well in Pratt's life during this episode I definitely thought he'd be the one to die, but did he? Or was it Sam? Or someone else? Oh September, you are so far away!
--Abby and Luka are back together and headed off into the sunset...wherever that may be. Definitely not Chicago. Good for them, and good for Luka for slugging Moretti (even though, up until he slept with Abby, I actually thought Moretti was a fairly interesting character).
--Neela and the obnoxious new doctor? Ugh.
--I hope Dubenko isn't really leaving. Despite his recent freakouts with Skye and Neela, I still genuinely like his character.

The Office was spectacular! Best episode ever. You hit all the hilights. I too was disappointed for Jim and Pam, but it was worth it in the end. When Phyllis found Monkey and her D in the throes of passion - I swear I screamed. That was too good. And Michael's totally thick skull when it comes to women. The poor guy. He needs Jim there to guide him! I bet we see Toby again. I just have a feeling. Wasn't Michael's joy at it being his last day so funny? Oh how I love this show.

Hey Megan! I thought The Office was really good last night. I loved how it opened with the prank on Dwight. I've missed that a lot! I loved how Ryan went to jail. I wonder how that story will continue next season. Will we see different workers go to the prison to visit him? My mouth hit the floor when Jan was pregnant! WOW! And she didn't really go to a sperm bank, she just wanted to raise the baby without Michael so she told him that. Why would she want to do that then invite Michael to the lamaze class? I don't get her. I think the new HR girl will be good next season. The scenes with her and Kevin tripped me out. When Andy proposed to Angela and she said ok, my heart broke a little for Dwight. I'm sorry but I prefer Dwight and Angela. I was SO happy with the way the show ended. I just hope when they come back next season (after Pam's 3 month class in New York), they don't screw up the Jim/Pam relationship.

Hi Megan,

My Thursday night NBC shows finished up last week, but I wanted to pop in and say hi. I hope you're having a blast in Houston.

Safe trip home.

Cindy--I thought it was great, too. I think The Dinner Party still might be my favorite, but this one was close. I loved all the shocking moments and cliffhangers, and I also really like it when Jim and Michael find common ground on stuff. I hope we see Toby again, too; he was kind of a great nemesis for Michael.

Mannie--I prefer Dwight and Angela, too. They are just too good/evil together. And poor Andy might be the only person in the universe who makes Michael look self aware. They'd better not mess with Jim and Pam!

Hi Meg! I recorded Supernatural and watched Office downstairs while I was waiting for my mom to come home from the hospital. But then I fell asleep at the very end! D'oh! So I'll have to rewatch the last 20 minutes or so of The Office. Can you imagine the torture I've been going through this morning trying to find out if Jim did indeed propose to Pam??! ;) Plus, I missed Dwight and Angela having sex in the office!! Oh my. I have to see this to believe it.

Last night was the first time I actually noticed that Angela is really, really pregnant. :) I think it was that scene she's shredding all her party contacts so Phyllis can't have them. I loved that scene of Phyllis trying to get an anti-gravity machine for Michael.

Phone operator: "Anti-gravity? Anti...depressants. Would you like the number for that?"
Phyllis: "Oh...okay."

Plus, I really want to see at least one scene of Kelly torturing Ryan in prison. :)

It was also nice to hear Jim talk about all the relationship firsts he had with Pam and they were all in the office. :) We knew that, of course, but it was sweet to recap it.

BTW, I was reading the TV Show Blog for The Office and one of the commenters said, "Wouldn't it be funny if Holly turned out to be Jan's sister?" I just about died laughing. :-D That would be HILARIOUS!

OMG Megan, ER was fantastic. I can't wait to find out who got into that ambulance. Hubby called it blowing up as soon as he saw that the guy was being moved. I'm not going to be happy with either Pratt or Sam getting blown up. I can't think of any regular character that I wouldn't care about. It was such a great episode though, so much happened. I'm so happy that Luka and Abby are getting back together even though I know it means that they are both leaving the show. I will miss them, especially Luka. I thought it was great when Luka dropped the bagged lunch to hit Moretti, he had it coming. I liked Moretti too. I also hope that Dubenko isn't leaving the show, how many characters can they manage to lose this season? I don't like that Neela just did that with that creepy new guy, he's such a jerk. I hope she doesn't end up regretting it. The guy was a real jerk to the last girl he had $ex with.

I can't believe that we have to wait so long to find out what happened, that sucks.

Famin, I'm glad your mom came home from the hospital! How is she doing?

She looks like she's doing better. At least, she was last night when I saw her. A day with only my dad for company may have changed all that. ;) Thanks for asking, MaeMae.

I'm glad your mom is home from the hospital, too, Famin. I'm sure that being out of there will improve her spirits.

The anti-gravity/anti-depressants line was great. I think some of the office staff could use some of the latter, too, so maybe it worked out. It was really sweet for Jim to realize how important the office was to his relationship with Pam. As much as he thinks he hates his job sometimes he never would have met her without it.

Trish--I'm going to miss Luka and Abby, too, but if it means their characters get to be happy together then I'm okay with it. So many characters meet bad ends on that show that it is nice to see some happiness. I don't want any of the main characters to die either! I'm not sure who I'd rather see leave between Pratt and Sam, but the show could trick us and have someone completely different in there, too.
