CSI:NY--Caught
Okay, I know this is wrong of me to say, but I have to admit I was a little glad that it was Reed getting into the killer cab at the end of this episode instead of Lindsay. I feel badly because I know next week is going to be really hard on Mac, and that he is already upset enough about this cab driver killer and that he will probably blame himself for Reed's kidnapping, but over the past couple of weeks Reed has been really getting on my nerves. He's using the fact that Mac wants to have a personal relationship with him to pressure Mac into giving him exclusive information on the cabbie killer, he made up information on his blog and made in look like it came from Mac, he set Mac up to get in trouble with the NYC cab industry at a press conference, and then--MAJOR MORON ALERT--he got a mysterious text message, went to meet a "source" alone, and then got into a cab by himself!
Mac really is having a rough time with this case; he is getting pressure from his bosses and the people of the city to catch this killer right away, but he's doing the best he can. And, as he admitted to Stella in their nice office chat where we actually got to see "vulnerable Mac" for once, he's putting a lot of pressure on himself, too, because he knows how many innocent people are being hurt by this crazy cabbie. Next week's episode should be intense.
The cheerleader storyline wasn't that interesting to me because I figured it out almost in the first moment when I saw the cheerleader kiss the guy on the mouth. I didn't figure out why she did it until they searched her apartment and they showed the "fat" picture, but all in all it was pretty predictable. The best part of the storyline was seeing Mac and Flack being buddies and messing with each other at the "New York Empire" game and Flack saying "Boom" for the second week in a row. By the way, what was up with the cheerleaders' uniforms? They looked like the ones that the cheerleaders wore at my junior high school. Have these people not seen the type of things pro cheerleaders wear these days?
Danny and Lindsay are both missing each other; she's taking rain walks and Danny seems to genuinely regret letting Lindsay slip away from him, even though HE HASN'T TOLD HER WHAT HE DID YET. He does want to see her, though, and with Ricki seemingly gone for good to start a new life, and Lindsay able to escape the cab killer's clutches, maybe they will make their way back to each other. I only want to see it if Danny is honest with her, though. Lindsay, and the audience, deserve that.
Random Sid is Awesome Moment: Sid says he's afraid of group sporting events because of things like this (indicating the victim), but he enjoys fencing. Things like what, Sid? Having a chance to make the million dollar shot at a pro-basketball game, making it, and then dying because you got a poison kiss from a cheerleader who you made fun of when she used to be fat? Because I hear that happens all the time.

Hey Megan---
Yeah, Reed and Danny are both suffering from the same disease...drastic character changes that didn't work. And putting Reed in harm's way doesn't up the suspense any...like the kid's really gonna get hurt. Yeah, sure. It'd be a lot more exciting if the next potential victim was someone we didn't know.
And yeah, Danny & Lindsay's stuff was cute, but meaningless. I can't believe what a mess the whole thing's turned into. Because now, if Danny doesn't fess up, the character's fate is sealed. He'll forever be an a**hole no matter what he does, and Lindsay'll just be the blissfully ignorant dupe. But then, if he does tell her and she decides to let it slide because of his having had such a 'difficult time', then he's gotten away with cheating and she's a doormat. There's just no good way to resolve it.
But hey...as with everything on this show, all you can say is...whatever.
One other note: I really miss Hill Harper. I know he's there every week, but he gets so little screen time that he just turns into wallpaper. That's so sad.

This was a good episode! I am really glad that it wasn't Lindsay that got into the cab, but Reed. I wonder if this the way they will get rid of his character? Even though Mac seems to be calling Reed his son. I don't really like where they are going with him either, and Mac is getting pissy with him.
Poor Mac the bags under his eyes are even deeper and darker this season. I wonder does Sid mean the random deaths that seem to occur at sporting events? Yea that cheerleader thing, saw that a mile away.. there is revenge and then there is cold hearted planning on a premeditated murder. If they follow that one through, i bet she wouldn't get a too big of a sentence, that was a huge, nasty humiliation she went through!
I agree, there is no happy ending with Danny and Lindsay where one of them doesn't end up being a doormat or a putz! What a shame...

Yes - it was a big relief that it wasn't Lindsay in trouble. That might have sent me into a tailspin as far as this show goes. The poor girl has gone through enough crap!
I myself hope that Reed ends up dead - his character is a worthless addition to the cast and in my opinion the show would be better off without him.

Hi Megan, I'm another one who is glad that it wasn't Lindsay getting into the cab. I've missed a couple of episodes so Reed is pretty new to me. Is he Mac's dead wife's son? And yes that cheerleader story was too predictable. As soon as she kissed him I knew that he was going to die because of that kiss. I just didn't know why until they showed the fat girl picture.
and then--MAJOR MORON ALERT--he got a mysterious text message, went to meet a "source" alone, and then got into a cab by himself!
Really, he's a reporter? Does he not read his own reports? There's a crazy killer cabbie out there & he gets into a cab after going to meet an unknown source.
I hope that Danny confesses and Lindsay can forgive him. I wish he hadn't pushed her away to begin with though.

Trish--Yes, Reed is Mac's dead wife's stepson. He had never met him before last season, but Reed came looking for his mother and Mac had to tell him that she was dead, but that he wanted to get to know him. I could not believe how stupid Reed was in this episode; you are right, doesn't he read his own reports?!
Ranger--I agree that Lindsay being the victim would have been too much. Of course, Stella goes through 3 major horrible incidents per season so they all have some catching up to do.
Indy--I enjoyed the episode more than I thought I would since the cheerleader storyline was so predictable. The cab stuff got pretty interesting and then there were developments with Danny and Lindsay. I also agree with you about them; I'm not sure there is a satisfying way to fix their relationship.
Lori--I agree about Danny and Lindsay; there is just no good way out of what the writers did to them. I also don't think they will kill Reed...no matter how annoying he is. I miss Hill Harper, too. Everytime I finish writing one of these blogs and I'm looking over it I think, "I didn't mention anything about Hawkes." And then I realize, "That is because he didn't do anything interesting...since last season!"
