Joss Whedon Talks to the LA Times about Dollhouse
Usually Marci gives us the great updates from The Los Angeles Times, but this week I've beaten her to it!

Joss Whedon talks to the LAT about Dollhouse, Doctor Horrible, and going back to television after vowing not to (which he did, after Firefly was canceled).

Hi Famin,
Thanks for catching this. I have to get ready to go over to my sister's later, so I'll have to read this tomorrow. I've been so busy reading and participating in all of the weeping, wailing and gnashing of teeth over the cancellation of Moonlight, I haven't been in The Times web site for a couple of days. (Tonight will be the last episode.) And then there was last night's Supernatural finale--oooyyyy!!! More drama and trauma.

Famin, I know you're going through some real drama and trauma. I hope you're able to get some of those things resolved soon. I'll be thinking of you.

Famin - I hope you are hanging in their Sweetie. How is your Mom?
Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog made me laugh. I do love Whedon. I hope Dollhouse is good. It's an interesting concept.
Last time I saw Whedon he was being interviewed as a big fan of Battlestar Galactica. He said he thinks it's the best thing ever on TV - especially the writing. BSC writers should feel good about that .

Hi guys! You're all very welcome. I would've missed this one myself except a friend of mine sent it to me at work. I swear, if I had to live my life without my friends....
Rod--I'll second that! I can't believe it took me this long to get on the Whedonverse bandwagon.
Marci--Good luck at your sister's! I know what you mean about Moonlight and I'm sending my condolences. It's really an incredible pity. I didn't watch the show every week (I was never home and it was too hard to do so when it was up against FNL), but it was on my "catch-up" list. So, this summer I'll be watching all the episodes they have on CBS.com. (In other words, I'll be bugging you and lacey to figure out the finer plot points!) I didn't like the pilot all that much but that episode where Mick goes through the desert and Beth lets him feed off her...that pretty much changed it all for me.
Poor Jason Dohring. Hope he finds something great soon.
Marci and Cindy--well, right now I'm doing okay. My mom came home from the hospital late last night (I'd fallen asleep watching Office waiting up for her) and at least seems better than she was when she went in. We got the wheelchair and walker and hospital bed in yesterday and I put nice new sheets on the bed. Unfortunately, I forgot to test the bed out before putting the sheets on it...hard as a rock! So, poor Mom slept in a chair last night because it was too uncomfortable. So, back I go to Target tonight. Luckily, they're having a huge sale on bedding!
Thanks for all the kind words and healing thoughts and prayers. Right now I'm taking things One Day at a Time (this is it, this is life, so let's have a ball...). (Sorry, Valerie Bertinelli moment got away from me there.) We're still looking into getting her a second opinion--like anything with the government or military we have to fill out 47 forms and wait 2 weeks for someone to call us back with a simple piece of paper--so I'm not giving up on all hope entirely. But I'm coming to terms with the fact that this is pretty much the last chapter of her life and the time to get used to that--and all the adjustments that come with it--is now. Which includes learning to cook.
Cindy, Doctor Horrible is quite literally the one thing in my life that I am looking forward to more than anything else this year. (It might even be the only big thing on the list, since I can't ever go on vacation again! Well, not for a long time!) I'm really excited about it and it can't get out there quickly enough for me. I'll even gladly pay for the privelege of watching it.
I'm not surprised Joss is a fan of BSG. Seeing as how Jane Espenson is one of the writers and all. (If I'm not mistaken, Buffy was the first major TV show she'd ever written for.) I also know Joss is a fan of Veronica Mars, enough that he was in an episode in Season 2. It was great to have his endorsement of the show--it upped the viewership a tiny bit. Hopefully it'll do the same for BSG, now in its last season.
MaeMae, you're most welcome! I had a dream about your dog last night. Or maybe it was on Metro.

Famin - I'm glad things are moving along a little bit in regards to your mom. One thing at a time, eh?
I'll be so glad to get over to my sister's house. She has air conditioning! I've been suffocating with this heat wave we're having. It's a little after 9:00 here, and my thermostat reading is 81, down from 88 when I went to bed. I've got five fans going all over my apartment.
I agree that the first few episodes of Moonlight weren't very good, but I had been so captivated by Alex O'Loughlin when he was on The Shield last year, I kept watching. And it did get infinitely better. It was really hitting its stride when CBS pulled the plug. You can chat with me about it anytime you want.
Good luck this weekend.

Thanks Marci! My mind boggled a bit when you said you didn't have air conditioning...and then I remembered you lived in the Bay Area. A friend of mine in Riverside was saying the same thing--they're expecting triple digits again this weekend. You're more than welcome to some of the soggy rain we've been having over here! It's about 67 degrees outside right now and still not tremendously humid. Well, it might seem humid to you, but it's not the humidity we expect in July and August.

Sixty-seven and raining? I would kill for that right now. We've lost our beautiful lush green hills; they're back to their usual golden brown color. Yes, since Fremont is right on the bay, we're not used to these hot temperatures, even in the summer. We get maybe three or four heat waves like this and they last just a few days. Most of the time the temperatures are much milder. I'd hate to be in Riverside with no air conditioning!

Famin - thanks for that great article. I am really looking forward to Dollhouse, and now they are reporting that all episodes of Dollhouse this season will only have 5 minutes of commercial time each. That is the equivalent of getting 12 extra minutes of awesomeness per episode X 7 episodes - WOW!
We are having the same heat-wave hear in Protland with temps today to get up to 95! They say that it won't last - next week we are supposed to dip into the high 40's at night!

Hells to the yeah, Marci! I just barely remember life before air conditioning (the first place I lived where everyone had central a/c was Tucson), but I did live in Dhaka without central air (we just had a single window box in my parents' bedroom; ceiling fans everywhere else). I remind myself of that whenever the DC humidity gets to me--I used to do PE in 110 degrees F (mid-40s C) with 100% humidity with nothing but warm bottled water and a ceiling fan to cool me off. And that's if you had electricity!! The power frequently went out on the hottest days and you had to learn to sleep in puddles of sweat beneath the mosquito net with not even the hint of a stir of breeze. Now I'm so spoiled that I can't even picture how I managed before.
Hi Ranger! I remember you saying how excited you are about Dollhouse. I'm willing to wait till mid-season if it means I can watch with less forwarding of commercials.
A friend of mine was telling me about the heat wave in Portland. She's convinced that's what's keeping people from viewing her house (it's for sale).

Welcome to the club, Ranger. I guess the whole West Coast has been hit. Famin - I lived in Florida for a few years when I was a kid and we had no air conditioning. I'm sure, though, that I never experienced anything like you did.
Anyway, I think five minutes for commercials an hour is a great idea. I get so tired of having to hit fast forward every five minutes.

I hope Abby was nice to you in your dream. Do you remember if she was or not? I might have go get her when I get home if she wasn't. I'm glad your mom's home. Those memory foam toppers are amazing if you want to look for some tonight to put on the bed.

Hi Sis!! How's the oatmeal treatin' ya? Pretend it's really, really gritty, slimy ice cream. (Then let me know how well that works!)
MaeMae, Abby was a dream to me in my dream. She just panted all happy to see me. Even in my dream she was adorable! I will definitely look into a memory foam topper. Everything was on sale when I was there last night! Thing is though, I don't want her getting bed sores from something that remembers the body too well....
