Where have all the good TV shows gone?

Since the untimely writers strike and the end of shows such as Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone, it seems that there is nothing fresh and clever enough to tempt my fancy on TV. I know shows such as these turn some people off because God forbid, they are “different” or “unique”, but I like different. I need something more than desperate women going from man to man; I need a plot and occasional appearance by George Michel. Let’s face it Meredith and McDreamy are kaput on Grey’s Anatomy, ER continues to have all of its’ doctors taking more care of each other than their patients, there are still people stuck on the island on Lost and the housewives are still as desperate as ever on Wisteria Lane. Even my old stand by NCIS left me in disgust after Ziva’s fall from grace last week. What is one to do? I am still not desperate enough to cross over into becoming a reality show junkie by watching Deal or No Deal but what other shows deserve my attention? TV Gods (writers) please end my agony and send a show that will truly sparkle and pop!

Oh Daisey, You should check out Supernatural - you'll get sparkle and pop and Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles and some of the greatest storytelling ever done.

This is absolutely the very best show on TV. It airs Thursday evenings at 9:00 pm EST on the CW.

I hope you'll have a chance to check it out.

As far as DH goes, I've never watched the show myself, but I can assure you, with the arrival of Gale Harold (of Queer as Folk fame), it will be sure to enliven Wiseria Lane. He is such an exceptional actor.

All the best.

Keep your eyes peeled for new seasons of Eureka on Sci Fi Channel and Burn Notice on USA. Eureka is a fun and quirky drama with humorous elements while Burn Notice is one of the better new series in a long time. It's an action series with comedic undertones. Both of these series are worth watching.

Given that it got good ratings and great reviews there is a good chance that Eli Stone will be back.

And Ziva (NCIS) is not a robot, even the hardest shell cracks once in a while. Her self-awareness at her own mortality was a pleasure to see. She'll be back to her Mossad-self in no time.

I watched Dexter faithfully all this past season, only to find out it's moved to Showtime. I am not going to pay for cable or dish, so I've got to wait until I can buy the dvd, I guess. Oy. I really love Dexter (the show, not the guy). I think I'm having withdrawal.
