Trolls at TV Guide

In the world of online blogging, a Troll can mean several things. In this case I am using it to identify posters who have lately come on these blogs simply to post lies and rumors as facts and spoilers. This is a use of the word Troll to include the practice of playing a seriously misinformed or deluded user, even in newsgroups where one was not a regular.

There isn't much you can do about it. I've decided to press the report abuse button every time I see this sort of thing. I mean, if they can delete posts which are not harmful around here, why can't they delete lies posted as truths? I'm always willing to consider anything any one posts, if they can back it up with a link to a real person or official news place. But this fiction is getting to be too much!

Thanks for this, CindA

I read that and thought that it was the most idiotic idea, which, since it was attatched to the CW, lead credence to the claim. (Hee.)

Why don't the Trolls go back under the bridge and bother Goats again? I swear some shows just draw them.

I agree Mos - CW - Really? Bwahahahahahaha.

Yesterday morning, someone registered just to supposedly sell b**er pills (which was, no doubt, just a joke). I pushed the Report Abuse button and noticed today that it was gone. This was the second time I reported someone who registered just to try to sell something that didn't even have anything to do with television.

Oh, dear God...don't these people have anything better to do? I read that blog about DOOL and thought "huh?". Then I noticed the registration date for the user and thought "riiight" and went on my merry way.

Good mornin' all. What do you mean, Met by the "registration date" being a dead give-away? (I am still on a learning curve in all of this.) I too saw the post on the pills, and was surprised to see that it had not been taken down sooner. Anyway, thanks, Cindy for the post. Unfortunately, there is always someone around who wants to take (dis)advantage of a good thing for their own nefarious deeds (spammers and emails anyone?). Over in the TV Show blogs, there are those who use the forum to attack the bloggers rather than comment courteously about the show, and here it is about people who want to either sell you a product (like the dvd.com blogger who just wants us to go on their commercial site) or who out and out lie. I am beginning to limit my reading of posts to those whose names I recognize. It is unfortunate, but with my time constraints in coming to the TVG site, it also makes the most sense for me.

Hi Maria, how are you? If you click on a persons name below their post it will take you to there profile where it says "Member since" that is their registration date or the date they joined the blogs.

I couldn't even finish reading that article yesterday--I rolled my eyes and left when I saw the references to targeting more teens+CW. Please.

I've gone to frickin'frackin' photobucket, but can never find the really kewl and awesome smilies you, Cinder and Mr. F. can find! waaa!

Soooo love the Troll in your post, Cinder.

I've long since stopped watching DOOL--was duped that the veteran characters would be in the forefront when Sheffer came aboard, but he didn't follow through. Got sick of the mafia-laden storylines in GH and stopped watching that trainwreck almost a year ago. That being said, I may, just may watch GH:Nightshift to see if they can do justice to Jagger and Scorpio's return.

I'm not holding my breath, though.
