Season 2, Week 5
The weather's cooling down here in Dallas, and Bellick is chillin' out, zip-tied to a pipe in a shack with fat-ass Roy Geary. At least Bellick got some expensive but well-deserved love along the way. You gotta hand it to Bellick and Geary -- they were the first ones to bag the brothers. So much for the new smart guy, Mahone. It ain't over till it's over, pill-popper.
We lost another fantastic character and character actor in John Abruzzi and Peter Stormare last week. They went out like Sonny Corleone. We'll miss Peter. He's off doing movies. Seems everyone that's croaked so far has gone off to the Great Film Career in the sky! That's a pretty sweet afterlife. Best of luck!
So who's next?
It's been nice reading your responses to the first post. Thanks for those. I read that some of you questioned whether I was "tongue in cheek" or "pixyish." (Is that a word?)
Just to clear things up: Humor is something I lack. "Irony" is a word I can't stand; everything I write should be taken as undisturbed, unadulterated truth, like the statements by our government officials. If I did have a sense of humor it was a sincere mistake, and I promise that it will never happen again.
I noticed in some of your responses to my first post that you were surprised I would write that all the good guys in the show are rapists, armed robbers, convicted murderers, pedophiles, hit men.... I could go on. Well, they are the heroes, though Bellick is the real hero of the show! As far as Bellick is concerned, he is just doing his job and now that he's on the hunt, he's gonna be doing an even better job!
The great thing about storytelling is that story is different depending on how you tell it. The heroes can be different every time. Take the recent movie V for Vendetta. The way that story was told, "the hero" of that movie was plotting to blow up a government building! Kinda like the network news. In my book, Bellick is a hero, and he's in search of what all of us really want, the cash. Lots and lots of tax-free cash. At least he's honest about it. If he can get a little love and revenge in the process... well, he's not gonna pass on it.
It's a TV show, you know. It's not real life. Funny thing, TV. It's difficult to separate TV from reality sometimes. When people recognize me on the street from Prison Break, many times they won't talk to me. They just stare and whisper to each other, or they take pictures of me with their cell phones -- from far away. Sometimes they'll say something like, "You're not going to get mad at me are you? But are you the guy on Prison Break?"
Three lovely ladies have asked me to marry them! What's that about???
Ain't bad for a bad guy!
My wife and my mom are upset, as well, because I play such a bad guy. They keep hoping Bellick will be "nicer." I think they, too, are confusing TV with reality. One of the worst descriptions you can give someone is, "They're nice." I would hope to be described as anything but "nice." "Oh, she's nice." "Yeah, he's a nice guy." "They seemed nice." "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."
Have an opinion! Say what you mean. Like Bellick does.
I'm enjoying that people are really getting into expressing themselves about Bellick and how that character makes them feel when he shows up on the TV screen. They hate him, they think he's sneaky, they think he's the bad guy. It's wonderful to be able to elicit that sort of response from the audience. But look at it from my point of view: Bellick is just doing his job. He's kicking ass and taking names, and he fumbles and missteps along the way, but he has the prize in sight. He knows that the true goal is catching up with the money and along the way getting his sweet revenge on Lincoln and Michael. So keep those comments coming. I'm having a ball reading them, and having a blast writing this blog.
Don't miss all-new episodes of Prison Break, Mondays at 8 pm/ET on Fox.

I can't agree with you more, Wade. Don't mix life with TVs. I've learned to enjoy my one-hour roller coaster ride every Monday night without becoming too attched to anyone on the show. Prison Break 204 generated a lot of discussions in some PB Chinese forums I usually hang around. Bellick's juicy scenes with Nika is one of the hottest topic. There are boys who are so jealous of Bellick, Haha. Is it possible we can see Bellick and Nika teaming up again in the future? Looking forward to read more of your posts. P.S. I will miss Boss Abruzzi. I used to wish I could see Abruzzi facing T-Bag in Season 2. However, it seems that will not happen.

Phenomenal season so far and as dramatic as the deaths have been, I miss those characters already. I was sorry to see Daniel Travanti's President go last season too! Keep up the good work. I hope they can get 24 episodes or more this year.

There is something about your character that I dislike very much, but at the same time, I'm soooooo incredibly attracted to him. And it must be because you are so handsome. The whole show is filled with hot men. That's why I love it!! Keep up the good work! I cannot wait to see how it all turns out.

Wade, I think you and the writers have done a great job showing Bellick's humanity and his insecurity. He could have been a one dimensional bore, too obvious and malicious to empathize with/relate to/invest in. Instead, I can see/appreciate Bellick's perspective on his role at the prison and in the hunt for the escapees.
Just curious, from your perspective, what is it about Michael that so insenses Bellick? Is it an inferiority thing? Like Bellick wants to prove has mettle against the college boy? Or perhaps excise childhood demons in which kids like Michael tormented Bellick as a boy? Or maybe it's just Dr. Sara Tancredi? That dinner dis had to hurt even if Sara was well intentioned. Anyway, I suspect Bellick would say he's just doing his job, trying to get Michael the felon back behind bars. But it seems more personal than that. Like Michael represents certain things that have always been out of reach for Bellick and his bitter about it. Heh, I actually did intend this as a question for you, not a comment for me. Oh well. Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Wade, I enjoy reading your blog! I watched the last two episodes yesterday because I was on vacation and unable to see them when they aired. I'm so glad Michael and Lincoln got away from Bellick.
I thought it was ironic that Bellick was able to find M&L before Mahone. Wasn't the FBI watching Nika?
Maybe Bellick will meet up with Tweener in Utah and Tweener will get his revenge.

Wade,
Thank you so much for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this blog. As many of us we all find you and your character amazing. I have to admit I now empathise with Bellick. I don't see him as a bad guy but a guy who makes wrong decisions. I will miss Abruzzi and I have strongly enjoyed Peters work. I will miss him and wish we could have had one last battle between him and Tbag. I wish Peter much luck and ejoyed him in Bad Boys. Keep up the GREAT work Wade and thank you for everything. Bellick is such a bad boy and we ladies love our bad boys ;O)

I think the fact that many find your character so "un"-nice is just a testament to what you bring to it. The fact that we care means you and the writers are doing it right.
I think Bellick and Nika will meet up again. For such a "smarty" Michael was pretty silly to leave Nika out near the shed after she threatened to turn him in for the money. A woman scorned is going to go right back to the shed and free Bellick to get her revenge.
Can't wait to see the story follow through.
Keep it coming!!

I agree with aotm345's post, I think Nika will go back to the shed and free Bellick and "fat-ass" Roy. Can't wait to see what happens tonight!
Wade, I can't imagine the show without you, but I hope if the writers kill you off you'll find success with your Great Film Career in the sky. Or, even better, with both the small and "big" screens. Best of luck to you, and thanks again for blogging for us fans.

Great post, Wade. I hope that you aren't offended when people hesitate to approach you on the street. Just remind yourself that you must be a great actor for people to actually get intimidated. Good work on the show....while you make my blood boil, I couldn't imagine the show without you. Take care.

Dude, you were awesomely N-A-S-T-Y last week! Why do I think that the Bellick/Nika thang isn't quite over? They both want the money. Now that you have been fooled twice by Michael, I guess you'll have to put him in the ground. Show that pill-popping, baggage-carrying Mahone a thing or two about manhunts! You seem to be getting the best lines lately, and Bellick & Geary are quite the comedy team, even if it is unintentional. Rock on, Wade!
