Paris Hilton and Shameless Plugs

Listen. If you concentrate, you can hear it: the sound of some enterprising young lad in their basement, printing off T-shirts that say "Free Paris." Timely. Give me a frickin' break. Honestly, if I hear one more thing about this chick, I'm gonna commit hari-kari with a spatula in front of my children. Why a spatula? "Because it will hurt more, you idiot!!!" Think Alan Rickman in Robin Hood, and you'll get the gist.

Well, Week 2 of this blog and a few things have happened. First, my beloved Canucks were knocked out of the playoffs by the Anaheim Ducks. I'm not angry. I actually went to Game 5 in Anaheim with one of my favorite people in the whole world to watch the game. Honestly, if Vancouver had won that game, it would have been a crime — they were so outplayed it was ridiculous. Poor Roberto Luongo (the Canucks goalie) is in therapy right now, he had so much rubber flying at him. I actually had to go drink for him. The Anaheim Ducks were simply a better team. That's right, "Ducks." Thank you, Disney. What an intimidating name.

Anyhow, did anybody catch this week's episode of 24? I did. Blink and you'll miss me. All the promised nudity, or almost-nudity, was clipped, just when the gettin' was good. Honestly, did we shoot it all for my benefit? You spend two hours bumping uglies with an actress, you at least want a little of it to end up onscreen. I'm the last person to say it, but I feel like a piece of meat. It brings whole new meaning to the term "warm prop."

As for this week's episode of Stargate entitled "The Bounty" — again, blink and you'll miss me. My role was shot over two whole days, and I'm not in it that much. I enjoy the episode, though, as I get to watch my favorite actress Claudia Black chew enormous amounts of scenery. I love her! Seriously, I could watch her read the phone book. She's so entertaining to watch when they let her off the leash. However, as an episode? Kinda filler. I've always had enormous problems with the notion of "space corn" being a strong genesis of drama. My opinion. Some may disagree. Oh, and watch for Daniel's line, "and you would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for us meddling kids!" Completely improvised. Thought that it would be cut for sure. Obviously, Scooby Doo, but I hate it when a character has to explain to the bad guy what the audience obviously implicitly understands. Pet peeve. Moving on.

Not a bad week overall. Made out with Kari Matchett on 24. Made out with Morena Baccarin in The Shroud. Seriously, I'm one project shy of making out with Treat Williams, and I've gotten nookie from the entire cast of TNT's new series Heartland (shameless plug). (Note to casting directors: I jest. Love Treat, but don't wanna go there.)

Well, if anyone wants to ask the obvious question, "Who is the better kisser?" the answer is me (shameless plug). For god's sake, it's my blog, I have to say something positive, damn it! Tune in next week as I shamelessly plug my next project (fingers crossed), Rage of Angels, written by my friend and coconspirator Chris Judge. This television pilot, directed by 24's Brad Turner, promises to blow the doors off of any evil character I've played before now. Sorry, not evil. Just misunderstood. You get my gist.

World events? Well, one of the most famous parks in the world, Griffith Park in Los Angeles, was burning down this week, but you wouldn't have known it. CNN was too busy covering — yes, you guessed it — Paris Hilton.

Maybe I'm just bitter because I'm one of the few white actors in Hollywood that she hasn't slept with. Or maybe I'm grateful. You get my gist.

Michael,

Thanks for another entertaining blog.:^O

Again sorry about the Canucks loosing. Sorry you had to sit through it. But sounds like you enjoyed the game and agree Roberto Luongo will need therapy. But Dominic Hasek gets to face the Mighy Ducks of Aneheim next (shameless plug for the wings).:(

Enjoyed your comments on the blink and we will miss you in "24" and "Bounty"! Ok sorry have to laugh at the 'warm prop' comment! And agree Claudia is great in "Bounty"! And I loved the line about the meddling kids that was great. And delivered it very well.:|

So you trying to get yourself cast in "Heartland"? If so nice shameless plug.?<img border=">

Cool plug away at "Rage Of Angels" you will have a fandom started in no time I predict. :)

There is a "Free Paris" website on the web to petition to Arnold. So does that take the place of the person makeing them tshirts?B-)

Ah enjoying also all the shameless plugs. :8}

Ah next week can't wait to hear what you say about "Bad Guys" loved loved loved that eps.:-D

Sue
(Whose red wings are in playoffs still;is that a shameless plug?)

*edited cause had more to say and posted to quickly first time.

I have to agree with all the Claudia Black love...she's great, love her!

You two need to hook up on screen again. You should have her on your new pilot-- which I hope works out and gets picked up.

You haven't slept with Paris Hilton? I bet you're STD free then, good for you.

:)

But you've been kissed by Christopher Judge so what are you complaining about and he crawled into your lap too. Many of us have photographic evidence of this. One look at those pictures and Treat Williams is gonna be jealous.

Well the Cleveland Indians are still doing decent and the Cavaliers are doing well to.. Go LaBron James!!! So I have no complaints in the sports department. Sorry to hear about your hockey team.

Ducks not intimidating, obviously you've never been chased by one of them before..uh that is to say the winged quacky versions. I've never been chased by a hockey player..not once drat it:(

So did they let you keep the bathrobe from 24? And the slippers too. Blink and miss you..oh no not with pause and rewind buttons at our disposal no way LOL:)

So mind altering corn just isn't your idea of riveting TV drama..sad to say it isn't mine either. But it seems a lot interesting men in TV shows now a days come from Kansas. Cameron Mitchell, Clark Kent, Sam and Dean Winchester.

I think Daniel must be from Kansas too:)

Thanks for sharing with us again. And look I didn't mention Paris Hilton even once..oops!

LMAO!!!! Thanks for the blog. It was well needed after a long work week. It sets the tone for a positive weekend.

Becareful about mentioning kitchen utensils. I know someone who attends the Vancouver cons with whisks. She might get some ideas.

Shame they cut out most of the nudity in 24. I personally enjoyed what little they left in. :-D

"Space corn"... all I can say about that is the Hussy Supply Kit has just the thing for that. ;)

"if anyone wants to ask the obvious question, "Who is the better kisser? the answer is me" Oh, that deserves some sort of comment... I'm just going blank at the moment for a good comeback.

Well, I'm looking forward to see what little of you will be on SG-1 tonight and of course you in 24 on Monday. "Bruises upon bruises, eh?"

All the best,
Angela

Nice second blog--you've found a good rhythm.

You may not want to make out with Treat on "Heartland", but any chance of you guesting on it? I knew Kari Matchett was cast in it, but I didn't realize Morena had a role. Not that it has even started showing here yet, but must plan for the future. And you do look good in blue scrubs!

Hi Michael.
Thanks for the great blog.
We get (in the UK) your 24 eps on Sunday 13th May, but thank goodness for Youtube! Disappointed to hear that they cut your nekkid scenes though.
So sorry about the Canucks, glad you got to see at least one of the playoff games. Better luck next season.
Looking forward to hearing more about your project with Chris Judge, it sounds really good. You playing the Devil, woohoo.
The question about 'Who's the better kisser?' Of course you are! Who's going to argue with that!?
I would say count yourself lucky that you're not being pursued by PH. I don't fancy her chances against Mrs Shanks!!! :^O

Okay now I am mad... how dare they cut that from the script. Can you please please please get a copy for us? Promised near nudity and don't deliver? WAHHHHHHHHH.

Sorry about the Canucks. As a Flyer fan I feel your pain.

Hysterical blog. However you left out tidbits for next week's 24! Or are you going to be a good guy and post again Monday?

Michael, you're a hoot! We get the gist :) Between Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole, I'm surprised there's room for anything else on CNN!

Thanks for the ad-lib in Bounty! What we saw of you was mighty fine. Shame about 24. They were probably too embarrassed to air it. Now, if 24 was on Showcase that would be a different story!

Hoping for good things for Rage of Angels and looking forward to your next shameless plug. Keep up the great blog!

Rage of Angels looks intriguing. I've always loved Chris's scripts on Sg-1. Besides, he'll be a pal and hook you up with some gratuitous nudity and a make-out session or two with a hot actress, right? B-)

Michael,
Kudos on yet another fantabulous blog! Your enigmatic wit bursts off the page - and can you say "sarcastic" much? I love it!

I agree wholeheartedly on the "she who shall remain nameless" iss-yew. There are definately certain people I don't want to see plastered all over my nightly news. And every every commercial break on my local radio. And my e-mail home page. And my local community newspaper. Do we have nothing else in this world happening that's worth mentioning? ENOUGH! (mini-rant. over now. promise.)

Sorry to hear about your beloved team. Can't say I follow much, rarely have the time, but have enjoyed a few of the Gulls home games. Good to see you showing your support. So few fans will get out there and really commit to the point of drinking for their despondent goalies!

Caught 24 - barely. Had problems with the vcr (yes... I've yet to enter the new millenium. No DVRs in my home). Fortunately I found a website where you can watch an entire episode on-line (thanks MichaelShanks-OnLine.com for the heads-up and link, by the way). Disappointed in the less-is-more presentation of your character - and after you worked so hard at it - but I guess you have to give screen time to Keifer and the crew as well.

Looking forward to SG-1 tonight. My reward for a week of finals prep. Yay! Sorry you won't be in as much, but I love the other characters as well and get an absolute kick out of watching Claudia tear up the screen, so all is not lost.

Never took you for the type to kiss and tell! Interesting date-book you're compiling for yourself there. At least you're able to keep humble about everything...

Great post! Looking forward to more of the same. Take care!
