Money

I think somebody put something in my drink. It's been one of those weeks that nobody in their right mind would believe. Being the quiet redhead in the corner of Dunder-Mifflin is certainly paying off in spades. This past week I got to lift up my skirt in front of Jim and the whole world when I asked him to sign my pelvis cast. You wanted to see more of Meredith? You got it! Honestly, what is next?

I couldn't be more pleased. I think last week's promo helped me to get a very-last-minute call last Thursday from The Tonight Show with Jay Leno! You heard me right. Remind me to buy Joaquin Phoenix a drink next time I see him. He canceled and suddenly there was room on the couch for little ol' me. If you missed it, here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdTgXS41M2M. Jay was really cool. I didn't really let him get a word in edgewise. He could not have been nicer. It felt like jumping out of an airplane. Meredith fans cheered when they showed the accident again.

All I can say is getting hit by that car was the best thing that ever happened to me. I am sure I have an ex-boyfriend or two who have rewound and played that hit over and over again. Enjoy, fellas! My gift to you.

Since last Thursday my phone has not stopped. Friends I haven't spoken to in 20 years have called and I got a free meal at my old restaurant! Not too shabby.

This week's episode of The Office, "Money," marks the directing debut of Paul Lieberstein, aka Toby from HR. He is a great director. He also wrote this episode and he was in it. What can't he do? He is the Woody Allen of The Office. Paul is the most humble and low-key guy I know. I am so happy for his rise to a new level. Which is more than I can say for Michael Scott this week. Michael has gotten himself into some bad financial trouble. He tries to declare bankruptcy by shouting it across the office. Steve and Melora [Hardin] have some great scenes, and Angela's life is about to get more complicated at work. (I'm not telling, but Dwight is not a happy camper.)

I know this is a short blog for me, but this has been a great week and I got some celebrating to do.

The Tuesday TBS reruns are going strong. I hope you will watch The Office Thursday nights on NBC and know that as of last week, we are officially the No. 1 comedy on TV! Isn't that cool? It's as cool as The Tonight Show. And getting a free meal from your old job.

Thanks for all your support. Will I see you in Scranton at the end of the month for the Office Convention? Let me know, and thanks.

I won't be at the convention :(
It was great seeing you on the Tonight Show!
I'm really looking forward to this week's episode. It sounds like it should be a great one!

I was so excited when I heard Paul wrote it. Go Paul! This season just keeps getting better and better.
And unfortunately, I can't go to the convention, but I have a lot of friends who are, and they have promised me details. YAY

Hey Kate!
Yes, I am extremely happy to say I will be at the Convention! I can't wait! My twin sister, our roommate and I are going. We are from Phila., well we grew up there, but we moved out to the suburbs right outside of Phila. I hear that you are from Phila too! I watched Leno the other night and you mentioned that your family has a bar in Phila. I'll have to check it out sometime! Can't wait to see you next weekend!

Hey Kate,

I just want to say I've been an Office fan from the start. I read all of your blogs and skim through officetally on the regular. (I loved you on Leno!)

In a few weeks I will be flying to LA to meet with a CBS production company (to bad it's not NBC. Ah) to pitch some ideas that me and my co-writer have been working on.

That said, I was wondering if there is a possibility to see the set of the office while I'm in LA. It would be so great to meet you guys! If this is beyond your power, I understand and will still be a loyal fan of the recently, pelvic-challenged redhead.

Hope to hear back from you,

Jordan (jordangons@gmail.com)

Oh, I cannot wait to hear Michael "declare bankruptcy." The idea has me chuckling out loud at my very-non-private desk. Whoops!

I won't be at the convention, but I did consider going. I went Paley Fest this year and it was amazing. Can't wait for the office tonight. GO TOBY/Paul!

Wow if getting hit by a car got you on Leno...maybe their could be a very special "The Office" where Meredith gets a liver transplat! (Now WHY would she need a new liver?!) Can't wait for the convention!

You know, I think all episodes of The Office should be an hour long. Could you please see what you can do about that, Kate? Thanks.

And by the way, I am so THRILLED at the quality airtime you are getting. I thought the "forgetting to put on your bathing suit" flashing moment of last season couldn't be topped... I was wrong. What with the car stunt job and the plaster panties... oh, my!

Can't wait until tonight!

Oh Kate, I loved seeing you on Jay Leno. I called a lot of people to say "watch Jay tonight, my girl is on!". They all got a little envious that I met you. How cool are you, really? VERY!

I'm really very sorry that I won't be able to see you again at the convention (mostly because I got to fly to LA for the Emmy Red Carpet). I hope this becomes an annual thing though!

Oh, and thanks again for leaving me a comment on my myspace... people were thinking I was blowing hot air about meeting you!

The Office is like today's Saturday Night Live, as today's real SNL, well, stinks. The Office cast is not as much an ensemble as a comedy troupe.

Kate, you are a genius. Thank you and the entire "Office" staff for never telling me when it's time to laugh.

Cheers to America's number one comedy!!

I'm so happy for you! I can't remember, did you say you were going to keep the pelvis cast? You should have it bronzed. Thursday nights have officially become my most favorite day of the week (and now Tuesday b/c of the repeats on TBS). I won't get to go to Scranton though which bums me out a lot but I know there will be plenty of coverage.

You're awesome for doing this blog!! I LOOVEEE LOOOOVVVVEEE LOOOOOVVVVEEE The Office. My mom hadn't watched it yet, so last week we had a marathon of the first two seasons. It was fun picking up on some of the smaller hints of Meredith's... habit ;) in earlier episodes.

This week I had a mini Office celebrity encounter of my own. I was ringing up a customer at the store I work at when I noticed he was from Scranton. I asked if he was familiar with The Office and he informed me that he was a PRODUCER! I proceeded to make a babbling fool of myself which ended with me shouting after him when he left the store "THANKS FOR MAKING THE SHOW!" (in response to his thanks for watching)

It. Was. Awesome :)
