Party :: The Office - Episode 409

Look who's coming to dinner! Its certain that trouble will brew at Michael's condo when he tricks Jim & Pam into coming for a dinner party hosted by him and live-in girlfriend Jan. Soon we learn about Jan's new, yet to make a sale, candle business, Michael's small and inconveniently placed Plasma TV, and how whatever Jan wants Jan will get. Easily said it is a party that would make anybody uncomfortable. Angela and Andy also show up for the party and soon enough Dwight, after not being invited, shows up with a former babysitter as a date, as Michael told Dwight only couples were invited. Things don't get better as dinner slowly cooks, and Michael and Jan have a breakdown. The episode showed Jan's disturbingly downhill journey from a corporate woman of integrity to a screwed up woman willing to do anything for a man who arguably doesn't deserve any woman. Although the description may leave you wondering how enjoyable the episode was do not be fooled, this scenario is an "Office" classic, and an excellent way to ease us back into the story after the writers strike.

I knew this episode was going to be good from the first moment when I heard the description, but it was better than I ever imagined. And by "better" I mean "painfully, awkwardly worse." You are so right about Jan, she really has been on a long, slow slide off the deep end and I think she's finally hit the bottom.

Oh yeah, that was what I thought two. The premise was just so perfectly classic The Office. Yeah this episode really did showcase how brilliantly uncomfortable humor can be used, which is a very commonly found form of humor in the show. Yeah I never really noticed how messed up Jan became until last nights episode. It was bizarre.

Oh, I completely forgot to mention this in the post but I have to say the beginning felt like it could have been an ending for a different episode, it had the perfect feel.

I almost forgot about the beginning of episode, too, but it was great. I loved how Michael outsmarted Jim for once!

Yeah, I thought that was great for Michael, and I thought it was perfect for his character because you knew that he wanted the hot couple at the office to come to his house and be his friends.
