Dear Lost Theorists

Dear Lost Theorists...

I think I know who is in the coffin. It makes perfect sense to me, but seeing as I am not one of those creepy Lost-aholics who come up with incredibly complex theories I am sure someone will prove my theory, well its more like a guess, wrong. Anyways the body in the coffin is clearly, to me at least... JACKS DAD!!! I think it would make perfect sense thematically for the show to go this route, the reason Jack was even on Oceanic flight 815 was to bring his dead father home where he could bury him, but in my research on the topic I learned that Jacks fathers body is MIA, at least thats what IMDb told me, you cant expect me to remember everything about Lost.

Sincerely,
tv(mike)

Sorry - but I don't buy it either. I think that it has to be Michael.

I don't think so- both logically and based on some info I've read about this season's finale. It's much more likely to be Michael.

Michael makes the most sense to me. But even if it isn't him - I don't buy Christian Shepherd. It doesn't fit the location of the funeral parlor etc.

I will not be specific here either way for everybody who would like to stay clear of spoilerz, but you can get your theory either denied or confirmed at spoilerfix.com.

I completely understand where all of you are coming from but this was merely speculation. I will be the first to admit that this show really does confuse me and I don't remember every single detail and that is why I don't like to post about it very much because someone always finds ways to find me incorrect, which is fine. I have stated my opinion and you have all stated yours. As for CinderAngelkc who said this theory wouldn't fit the funeral parlor location I have to ask why not?

Well, Christian Shepherd's body as far as we know is still on the island. If they are going to show us otherwise in the future, we don't know that yet. Plus, the funeral parlor was probably in an area such as Watts, from the look of it. Christian Shepherd was a wealthy physician. If they did find him body and bring it back why would it be there and why would Jack read it in the paper (which is how it appeared) and not be involved in it?

I'm the first to admit Lost will throw things at you when you least expect it. But I've also found everything eventually logically fits some how. I'm not sure how Christian Shepherd would logically fit that scenario. I've learned to never say never with Lost, so I won't say it is impossible. Maybe they'll give us the set up to it. But to me, with what we know now, I'll be disappointed if it were to end up being him.

Thank you for explaining your views CinderAngelkc but I have to state my opinion now. Who's to say that we wont run into the body ever again? As far as we know Claire is chasing down what she thinks is her father, maybe he will take her to his body? I think it is more reasonable at this stage for someone to find the body then the alternative, which is having someone on the island (such as Michael) piss everyone of the Oceanic 6 off, by doing something on the island, other than Jack who feels a large void in his life and die.

How can we tell where the funeral was held, the show is filmed only in Hawaii so can we really use the location of a scene to deny a theory if the show never actually has shot in places like Australia or England.

I think the question of why Jack wouldn't be involved with his fathers funeral might be pretty obvious, Jack is extraordinarily flawed, the fact that his father was the reason he was in the crash might add to his hatred of his father, or possibly the manifestation of his father on the island might do something to make Jack truly despise his father.

I have to say that I would be disappointed with the body being anyone else other than Christian, unless if it was Kate, but we already know she isn't in the coffin. I just think that making the body be Jacks father would be picture perfect in the scope of the show, much more meaningful than Michaels body, Jacks journey began because of his father and it should end with his father.

Mike - But that doesn't fit with how they showed us the whole set up originally. Jack read the paper. It said a man or man's body was found, can't remember exactly. He went to an empty building in a rough looking part of LA to see the coffin. He was definitely supposedly in LA in the present or the future from the island time. He drove there and the men on the outside of the building looked like street individuals. It was our first flash forward.

Claire is chasing her father's likeness. Life, death and illness on that island aren't the same as they are here. It may have been Jacob, who could be a shapeshifter. Again, I do a little theorizing from what I find to be logical from the clues. I don't go looking for the theories or for spoilers. If I did the show would lose it's meaning for me. I don't know the answer but hold fast to my believe AT THIS TIME that if it is Christian Shepherd they need to do a lot of explaining as to how and why it would be his body or I will lose a lot of faith in the show.

Regardless of how far that Christian Shepard fell (financialy), he still wouldn't be buried in a neighborhood like the funeral of the unkown person was. Sorry but your theory does not fit! The funeral had to be for Michael.

Even though we learned in part one of the finale that the body was not his fathers his finale was included and was a significant part of the flash forward.
