Mary's Motorcycle Diaries (nothing to do with TV ...)
Some of you know from various comments I've made that from 2000-2006, I took big road trip vacations with my sister on her Harley, with our Mom (who was 76 when this fun started!) in the sidecar. I kept a journal of each trip which got sent around to family and friends, describing the things we saw and did while crossing America on three wheels.
I've posted the trip journals here in my LJ, and if you have any interest in a somewhat unusual American travelogue, I invite you to drop on by and read them. Be warned, though: the journals reflect my passion for detail, so none of them are short! Hopefully, though, they might make you feel as if you've been along for the ride ...

I read the Branson trip. What fun! We drive near there often enough on our trips home to Iowa, but I've never actually been there. I never thought much about what scenery there might be. Interesting! The shows sounded like something I would enjoy. The Dixie Stampede sounds like a western version of Medieval Times, including the lack of utensils!
I'm looking forward to reading the rest, but I'm already jealous!

What a cool idea! Thanks for posting them- I'll hop on over to check them out. I had a great time listening to some of your stories in the bar at the Vancouver convention- now I'll get to read the rest of the stories!

This is a wonderful idea Mary. It's great to have these memories that you can hold onto.
I'm going to jump in and start reading over the next few days.
Thanks for sharing your family stories.

YIPPEEEE!! Thanks for doing it, Mary! Although I have them saved now on my computer, this way I can find them easily even when I'm not near my own computer. You know how much I enjoyed your Motorcycle Diaries, and I printed the Badlands one out for my boss. Her husband is a Harley man and they're making their first trip to South Dakota later this summer (although in a car). I'm sure she'll love it!
Although, my favorite is still when you were part of Rolling Thunder. Every Memorial Day, when I see them rolling up the Interstate, I think of how few bathrooms they have in the Pentagon parking lots!
There are still a few battlegrounds you missed when you all were doing the Civil War in DC/MD/VA--I think you need to do the rest!

Thanks for coming by, folks, and I hope you do enjoy the stories, even though there's nothing Supernatural about them ... apart from being a road trip across America, that is!
Famin, your enthusiasm is a large part of what inspired me to finally put these up, so you can thank yourself! And yes, riding in Rolling Thunder was majorly cool (and for those of you who haven't gotten into the tales yet, Rolling Thunder shows up in the Civil War tour) and the potty situation was majorly funny. *grin*
Amber, the Dixie Stampede is indeed similar in many ways to Medieval Times - just Westernized. For yet another take on the horse-show-plus-dinner, if I do go to Eyecon in September, I'd want to revisit Arabian Nights, which I haven't seen since, oh, 1992 or so. But I remember!
